WVU Shell Building

Home to one of the finest indoor facilities on the east coast, the West Virginia University track and field team takes shelter in the winter months in the WVU Shell Building. Conveniently located beside the WVU Coliseum, the Shell Building houses the indoor track facility which features a top notch track as well as adequate room for field events.

Athletic training and strength and conditioning facilities are also located in the Shell Building, giving the Mountaineers the perfect place for training and competition purposes. Each season the Mountaineers hold events such as the WVU Holiday Classic, the WVU Invitational and the WVU State Farm Games, all featuring teams from across the state and the east coast.

Just outside the doors of the WVU Shell Building is the outdoor track facility. Home to the Mountaineers when the weather permits, the WVU Track is lucky enough to have two top-notch facilities located side-by-side.

“We are very fortunate to have that indoor track. I am a believer that you should be outside when you can be outside training in fresh air. But to be able to go in there on a sub-freezing day in adverse weather conditions is great. It is a luxury to have it," said Coach Sean Cleary.
