Collegiate: Steve Dunlap lettered three years for WVU as a linebacker and helped lead the Mountaineers to a 19-15 record, including a 9-3 mark in 1975 and a 13-10 win over NC State in the Peach Bowl. He compiled 359 total tackles, including 182 solo stops, three interceptions and one tackle for loss. He set the school records for most tackles in a season (190) and tackles in a game (28). He currently is tied for No. 2 on the single game solo tackle chart with 16 solo stops and is No. 3 on the single-season assisted tackle chart (96). He is No. 4 on WVU career tackles chart and No. 4 on the unassisted tackles list.

1973 honors: WVU finished with a 6-5 record ... top wins were against Maryland, Virginia Tech, Illinois, Miami (Fla.), Virginia and Syracuse ... played linebacker ... finished with 14 tackles, including seven solo stops

1974 honors: WVU finished with a 4-7 record ... top wins were against Virginia Tech and Syracuse ... started at strong-side linebacker ... led WVU in tackles with 190, including 94 solo tackles ... Also had two fumble recoveries, four pass breakups and one tackle for loss

1975 honors: WVU finished with a 9-3 record ... defeated NC State in the Peach Bowl, 13-10 ... top wins were against Cal, Boston College, SMU, Virginia Tech and Pitt ... started at linebacker ... third-leading tackler for the Mountaineers with 155 stops

Sports Awards/Honors: WVU’s All-Decade Team (1970-79); 1996 Broyles Award Finalist; member of the WVU coaching staff that played for the 1988 national championship; member of two undefeated, untied regular seasons (1988, 1993)

Professional: Coached at the college level, starting as a graduate assistant at West Virginia (1978-81), then full-time assistant with the linebackers (1984-86), defensive backs (1987-92); defensive coordinator (1992-2000); at Syracuse from 2001-2005; linebackers (2001-05), assistant head coach (2002-03) and defensive coordinator (2004); defensive coordinator at NC State (2005-06) and Marshall (2007); returned to West Virginia as the assistant head coach and safeties coach from 2008-12; worked for the MAC in 2013-14 in the area of cultivating football donors and assisting with operations
